Students Skipping School In Saudi Arabia Can Put Parents In Jail

According to the report Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education declared on Thursday that if a student is absent in school for more than 20 days, their parents will be prosecuted.

There is a strict law in Saudi Arabia. As per the reports from a news organization Mekkah Newspaper if a student misses school for more than 20 days without any valid reason will be imprisoned. According to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education, it is the responsibility of the parents to look after their negligence. 

The procedure is that if the student takes a leave for 3 days, initially a warning will be given and the case will get transferred to the student’s mentor. If a student takes leave for 5 days, another warning will be given and parents will be notified.

If a student takes 10 days off, a third warning will be given and parents will have to sign a pledge. After 15 days off the student will be transferred to another school through the Education Department. Finally, after 20 days of absence from school, a provision of the Child Protection Law will be applied by the Education Department.
