New Jersey County Executive Candidate Tested At Twice The Legal Limit In 2019 DUI Arrest

The traffic stop in the outer northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike, just south of Exit 13A, involved Guy, a retired Jersey City police officer, driving a county-issued SUV. Guy is the chief of staff to departing Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise. The report and dashcam video show the incident.

Guy will most certainly assume broad control of Hudson County government as the departing executive DeGise has no opponent in the election that takes place next week.

According to the report, Guy admitted to drinking two beers the night of the incident at a Jersey City bar called White Star. However, according to the report, his breath test showed a blood alcohol content of.14 percent, which is below the legal limit.08 percent.

In October 2021, after two years of deliberation, an Elizabeth municipal court ruled that Guy was not guilty of the charges. Because the trooper had failed to appear in court, the trial had been postponed due to the pandemic. The following day, Guy hired an attorney to contest the results of his breath test.
