A renowned lawyer sued Sainsbury for a total of £25,000 – claiming that their store’s security guard had wrongly accused him of shoplifting.
London based solicitor of the name Andrew Jonathan Milne demanded compensation for the defamation of his character amidst a crowd of onlookers.
He claimed that the security guard told him: “You are a thief, you are a shoplifter, you should be in jail” in front of a crowd of 50 people.
Milne claimed that he was already on his way to the car, after paying for his items, when the security guard suddenly shouted at him – while defaming him in front of a lot of onlookers.
He then filed a claim at London’s High Court where he stated that there’s been irreparable damage made to his reputation and he continues to be greatly embarrassed by it.
The documents that got lodged at the court are yet to be tested in front of a court judge.
