Right now the rate of 12-month-long pupillages awards is £20,703 in London and for those who complete their on-the-job training out of London is £18,884. From January the next month, the 12-month pupillages awards rates will be £23,078 in London and £21,060 outside of London.
The Bar Standards Board said that for those who need financial support, the board decided to increase the pupillage awards rates.
The Living Wage Foundation, which is an independent organization that makes promotion about fair pay in London, endorsed the hourly rates and pegged them against the yearly uplifts first introduced by the BSB in 2019.
The minimum ray rate of pupils was £12,000. As per the Legal Cheek 2024 Chambers Most List everyone can clearly see that there is division in the Bar Standards Board when it comes to pupillage awards.
