In a nearly seven-hour interview, US special counsel David Weiss who is in charge of the investigation investigating Mr. President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden stated to the Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that he had encountered no political meddling, which runs counter to previous evidence from Whistleblowers.
Hunter Biden is accused by Weiss of offenses involving gun ownership and drug use. The president’s son has acknowledged that he battled crack and alcohol problems.
House Republicans are focussing their impeachment investigation of President Obama on Hunter Biden’s legal transgressions, and they claim the Justice Department unfairly meddled in his case.
The White House has referred to any misconduct. Opponents of impeachment argue that the investigation is driven by politics.
In the testimony Weiss said,
Throughout this investigation, the career prosecutors on my team and I have made decisions based on the facts and the law, Political considerations played no part in our decision-making.
Wiess, the first special counsel to speak before Congress before completing his final report, retaliated against remarks made by two IRS whistleblowers, who claim he informed officials during a meeting that he lacked final control over whether to file charges as part of his investigation.
