A man got arrested in Paris on Thursday after he performed a stunt of jumping off the Eiffel Tower with a parachute – as reported by the operator of the monument and police.
The man who is an experienced climber, first broke the rule by entering the perimeter of the tower – very shortly after the time of 5.00 am (this is the time before the Tower officially opens every day). After which he quickly got detected by the guards, but still somehow managed to dodge the security and get to the top. All the while, he had a parachute in his backpack.
He got all the way up to 330-meter height and then jumped. He got arrested upon landing in a nearby stadium. The man faced criminal charges as he put the lives of the people working at/below the tower in danger – and doing such stunts is illegal altogether.
This incident is actually the latest in a series of incidents that has been continuously happening at the site of the Eiffel Tower lately.
There had been an incident concerning two men (American) who were discovered on Monday after they spent the night up in the Eiffel Tower in a drunken stupor. These two men had reportedly been trapped since Sunday evening after they visited the Eiffel Tower. They got trapped there due to their excessive consumption of alcohol.
On Saturday, the tower got evacuated for many hours over a fake bomb threat. All three floors of the tower and the courtyard got evacuated while the authorities came to assess the threat.
